In addition to trial work, Mr. Critchlow also handles appeals of civil and criminal cases after a judgment has been entered by a lower court. These appeals can be very time consuming and these appellate courts have their own particular rules and proceedures. Most of the decisions made by these appellate courts are done by way of "slip opinions" which are signed written orders summarizing the salient facts of the case and a short explanation of how the court reached its decision. Some cases involve novel or unique issues which the court determines would be useful guidance for attorneys and the public for future cases. Theses cases are then formally "published" and printed in hardbound volumes (also now available "on line") and can be read by other attorneys and the public to aid them in their own research. Mr. Critchlow has two published opinions : City of Spokane v. Ward, 122 Wn.App. 40 (Div.III, 2004) and State of Washington v. Faydo, 68 Wn.App. 621 (Div. III, 1993)
